On the Saskatchewan Prairie, community is not a buzzword — it's a way of life. Neighbours look out for one another. Families gather around shared tables. Children grow up knowing every face in town. The ABBEY-LANCER/PORTREEVE PASTORAL CHARGE is rooted in this Prairie culture of mutual care and belonging.
Our community programming brings people of all ages together for meaningful experiences — from youth activities to senior fellowship, from seasonal celebrations to volunteer service. There is a place here for everyone.
From the youngest to the oldest, there is something for everyone in our Prairie community family.
Families are the foundation of our communities. We offer family-centred worship, seasonal family events, and programs that bring parents and children together in faith and fellowship. All family configurations are warmly welcomed.
Growing up on the Prairie shapes character in unique ways. Our youth programming celebrates that — offering mentorship, faith exploration, and community service opportunities for young people navigating faith and rural life.
Our senior community is a treasure of wisdom, experience, and Prairie history. We prioritize senior connection through regular visitation, coffee gatherings, and events that honour and celebrate the elders of our congregations.
The potluck is a Prairie institution. Several times a year, all three communities gather for a shared meal — bringing dishes, stories, and laughter to the table. These gatherings are open to all residents, church-affiliated or not.
From maintaining church facilities to supporting neighbours in need, volunteerism is central to our community ethos. Join our team of dedicated volunteers who give their time and skills to strengthen Prairie community life.
The Prairie calendar is shaped by seasons — seeding, harvest, winter, spring — and so is ours. We celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and other milestones with community events that honour both faith and the rhythms of rural life.

There is something extraordinary about rural community life. In Abbey, Lancer, and Portreeve, people know each other's names, their families, and their stories. When someone is struggling, neighbours show up. When there is reason to celebrate, the whole community gathers.
The ABBEY-LANCER/PORTREEVE PASTORAL CHARGE is woven into the fabric of this Prairie spirit. We do not simply exist alongside the community — we are the community. Our church has stood as a gathering place through drought and harvest, through hardship and celebration, for generations.
