ABBEY-LANCER/PORTREEVE PASTORAL CHARGE
Prairie life carries its own particular joys and demands. Distance, isolation, the pressures of farming and rural living — our pastoral minister understands these realities and offers a caring, non-judgmental presence to all who need it.
Whether you are facing illness, grief, a life transition, or simply need someone to talk to, we are here. Pastoral care is not limited to church members — it is freely offered to anyone in our communities who reaches out.

A full range of pastoral support — available to all residents of Abbey, Lancer, Portreeve and surrounding areas.
Our pastoral minister makes regular visits to those in hospital, long-term care, or palliative settings. A caring presence during illness can make an enormous difference — we are honoured to provide it. Contact us to arrange a visit anywhere in the region.
Losing a loved one is one of life's most profound experiences. We offer pastoral support to individuals and families through grief — including pre-funeral care, funeral services, and ongoing bereavement follow-up for as long as needed.
We celebrate love and commitment. Our pastoral minister officiates weddings in churches, community halls, or outdoor Prairie settings. Pre-marital conversations and preparation are offered to all couples — church-affiliated or not.
We celebrate the gift of new life through baptism and child dedication. Whether infant or adult baptism, our minister will guide you through the significance of this sacred moment and help you mark it with meaning.
We offer dignified, personalized funeral and memorial services in churches, community halls, or at graveside. Our minister will work closely with your family to honour the life of your loved one with care and respect.
Prayer is powerful. We offer dedicated prayer support for those facing illness, crisis, or major life decisions. Our minister is also available for one-on-one spiritual conversations and direction for those seeking deeper faith.
We believe in showing up. Our pastoral minister makes regular home visits to congregation members — especially seniors, those who are homebound, and those living in rural isolation. A simple visit can bring profound comfort and connection.
"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ."— Galatians 6:2 (NIV)
